At Vetropack, water is used mainly for cooling processes, typically in closed-loop systems, as well as for cleaning in parts of our production. Responsible water management helps the company reduce environmental impacts and use resources efficiently.
How does Vetropack avoid negative impacts related to water?
- A Health, Safety and Environmental Policy outlines Vetropack’s approach to responsible resource use and reducing environmental impacts, including water.
- When replacing cooling systems, the company prioritises closed-loop technology.
- Vetropack uses water treatment systems to meet regulatory requirements and manage oils and emulsions to prevent contamination.
- The company conducted a water risk assessment applying tools provided by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the WWF Water Risk Filter to identify potential risk areas. The assessment concluded that none of its sites are located in areas of “high or very high water stress.”
While water is essential in glass production, responsible management, ongoing monitoring and compliance with environmental requirements help reduce potential negative impacts.
