Kvartz, based in Quvasay (Fergana region), has started upgrades of the glass furnace at its subsidiary, which will increase furnace capacity by 15%. The modernisation project was developed by Russia“s Steklo-Gaz scientific-production union. The union will also furnish equipment required for the upgrades. The Uzstroymaterialy (Building materials industry) state joint stock company, which owns Kvartz, will finance the EUR 7.7 million project from its own resources. German Hypo Wereins Bank issued EUR 5.5 million to finance the project. Kvartz open joint stock company, founded in 1975, specialises in the production of glassware and building glass. The company“s is able to produce some 10 million square metres of building glass and 220 million units of glassware per annum.
