NEG: Solar power generation facility begins operation at Malaysian site

Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) has installed a solar power generation facility on the rooftop of its subsidiary, Nippon Electric Glass (Malaysia) (NEGM), in Selangor, Malaysia, and began operations as of March 17, 2026.

Nippon Electric Glass (Malaysia) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Electric Glass established in 1991. Based in Selangor, Malaysia, it primarily manufactures glass fibre and serves as a key production base for medical glass tubing within the group.

Solar power generation facility completion ceremony

This is NEGM’s first solar power generation facility, with a maximum output of approximately 7.6 MWp※. The annual power generation is expected to account for about several percent of NEGM’s electricity consumption and is projected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 6,900 tons per year.

The NEG Group is working to reduce CO₂ emissions at its domestic and overseas sites with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. At NEGM, a VPPA (Virtual Power Purchase Agreement) was signed in July 2024, and the introduction of this rooftop solar power generation facility further advances these efforts. The NEG Group will continue to promote the use of renewable energy.

Overview of the solar power generation facility
