1 July 1999: US-based Touch of Glass, Inc. (TOG), a custom glass and mirror fabricator, located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, recently expanded its custom glass edging product lines by adding straight line bevelling equipment. In a recent company statement, TOG said it is the first glass company in the greater Charleston area to install automated glass edging equipment, and that it is capable of producing bevelled edge glass designs and custom edge profiles on site. Bevelled edges, commonly seen in furniture tabletops and decorative mirrors, is the latest of glass innovations to be introduced by TOG to the Charleston area, the company said. In addition to traditional squares, rectangles, and circles, TOG produces oval, elliptical, and a variety of custom shapes, in glass thicknesses up to 3/4 inch. TOG“s equipment is also used to edge structural glass wall panels and frameless shower enclosures. Since installing the first automated edging machine in 1997, the demand for decorative edged products has more than doubled, according to the company. “Our customers have become more aware of the variety of custom edging now available and TOG has struggled to keep pace with the increased demand,” said Lance Falkowski, the company“s founder and operations vice president. “We have made major investments in equipment to better satisfy this demand and to provide contractors, interior designers, home owners, and commercial customers with the opportunity to create unique and decorative glass products. We have the capability to produce custom orders in a matter of days instead of weeks.”
