24 September 1998: French glassmaker Saint-Gobain recently reaffirmed a forecast for double-digit growth in net profit excluding capital gains in 1998. “Taking account of a good level of activity in most businesses, the Saint-Gobain group is confident for the second half and maintains, for the full year of 1998, its forecast of double-digit growth in the net result excluding capital gains,” the company said in a statement. The statement also confirmed first-half net profit – initially reported in July – at FFr 3.448 billion.
