7 May 1998: Joseph H. Lemieux, chairman and chief executive officer of Owens-Illinois, Inc., announced that Lee A. Wesselmann, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Owens-Illinois, will retire on 1 June after 37 years with the company. Following his retirement, Mr. Wesselmann, who is 62, will continue to serve Owens-Illinois on a consulting basis. Concurrently, Mr. Lemieux announced that David G. Van Hooser has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company, succeeding Mr. Wesselmann. Mr. Van Hooser, 51, has been with Owens-Illinois for 26 years and serves currently as senior vice president and director of corporate strategy.
