23 April 1998: Libbey-Owens-Ford Co. (LOF) of the US said it will relocate its automotive replacement glass division“s administrative office from Toledo to Columbus, Ohio. According to spokesman Philip Webb, some of the division“s 45 employees will be laid off as part of the move. The decision was prompted by the increasing competition in the market which is driven by consolidating and lower prices. The company houses its distribution warehouse in Columbus, which distributes the division“s glass products to about 100 US service centres.
