ICIS pricing, a leading price reporting service for the global chemical industry, has launched a new weekly soda ash Asia report in response to growing demand in the Asia Pacific region. The weekly Soda Ash Asia report will feature Asia CFR quotes in north-east Asia (NEA), south-east Asia (SEA), FOB China and CFR India price assessments. It will also feature insights and critical market commentary as well as operation and production news from the industry. With the growth of consumables, a construction boom and preparations for the Beijing Olympics in summer 2008, along with China“s major automotive industry which uses large amounts of glass, demand for soda ash is at an all-time high. The soda ash market is currently tight with all major suppliers prioritising fulfillment of contracts due to production cut-backs in the US. China, an importer, is also facing tighter margins due to the loss of government export rebates. “Projections for soda ash are optimistic for the next five years as global growth will continue more so for China, India and other developing countries in Southeast Asia.
