ICIS pricing, a leading price reporting service for the global chemical industry, has launched a new weekly soda ash Asia report in response to growing demand in the Asia Pacific region. The weekly Soda Ash Asia report will feature Asia CFR quotes in north-east Asia (NEA), south-east Asia (SEA), FOB China and CFR India price assessments. It will also feature insights and critical market commentary as well as operation and production news from the industry. With the growth of consumables, a construction boom and preparations for the Beijing Olympics in summer 2008, along with China“s major automotive industry which uses large amounts of glass, demand for soda ash is at an all-time high. The soda ash market is currently tight with all major suppliers prioritising fulfillment of contracts due to production cut-backs in the US. China, an importer, is also facing tighter margins due to the loss of government export rebates. “Projections for soda ash are optimistic for the next five years as global growth will continue more so for China, India and other developing countries in Southeast Asia. The Asian Soda Ash report offers objective pricing, analysis and insights of key issues affecting demand and supply in the region. The publication covers Asia“s key markets which have seen three-digit price hikes year-on-year for soda ash on the back of growing emerging economies and demand”, said Hong Chou Hui, markets reporter, ICIS pricing.
