29 December 1997: US-based Guardian International, who produces insulation materials, flat glass and photo development, and who is also a subsidiary of Guardian Industries Corp., has reportedly been “quite active” in Hungary recently. However, word has also gotten out that the company has turned its attention to nearby Romania, where the company recently announced that it was planning to build a new glass-making plant. The cost to build the planned factory has been estimated at US$ 100 million. As a result, this is expected to be the largest single direct American investment in the country to date.
