GPC 2016: The Glass Processing Conference

GPC will be held in conjunction with Glasstech Asia 2016 on 25 November 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The featured speaker will be Mr Miika Äppelqvist, a Glaston glass heat-treatment specialist who has worked in different management positions in glass heat-treatment and safety glass area. During the past nearly 10 years he has been involved in the development and market launch of the latest tempering and laminating technology. Currently he is head of Flat Tempering Business in Glaston.
His topic is ‘Reaching the most growing façade glazing market: high quality heat-treated and laminated glass’
The glass business is facing more global competition today than ever before. This means that all glass processors, local or global, need to prepare themselves for global competition. This presentation sets the framework for global quality for all glass processors delivering glass to architectural applications.
First, this presentation goes through the current heat-treated glass quality requirements and gives practical quality requirements for façade glazing. Reaching the quality requirements is becoming even more challenging as the buildings are made more energy efficient. From façade point of view, this means new high-performing coatings and integrated intelligent glass solutions that change the way glass can be heat-treated and the requirements set for the glass.
Lately the most growing glass type in façade glazing been heat strengthened and laminated. Lamination only recently has really started to gain momentum in global perspective. This growth has been fueled by three main factors: safety, more creative architecture designs and the increasing use of glass as a structural element. Modern architectural designs are calling for more complex glazing solutions. Coated glass, screen printing, multilayer lamination is increasingly finding its way into today’s architecture. This has a big impact how glass processors can guide and control their production in order to constantly provide quality products to their customers.
This presentation will also cover the latest technologies used to meet the growing quality demands globally in and neighbouring countries of Vietnam. We will also paint the future for growing quality requirements and how glass processors can prepare themselves for the future requirements.
