Administrative Management Systems hosts Glazier Certification Summit

A glazing certification event was held in early February in Las Vegas, facilitated by Administrative Management Systems and sponsored by the Finishing Trades Institute.

The event, aimed at industry stakeholders in the glass and construction community, attempted to capture the views of stakeholders as well as evaluate a potential path for evaluating the competency of installers.
It featured more than 50 participants representing AG&M contractors, glaziers and manufacturers, as well as insurance carriers and industry consultants. Participants discussed personnel certification as a tool to elevate training, competency and industry standards.
“I was thrilled to be a part of the summit,” said Anton Ruesing, director of FTI International. “We look forward to an industry program that goes beyond the boundaries of union or non-union; something that the whole industry can embrace, that touches all industry stakeholders.”
The group also evaluated key components that may be included in a certification program, including specifications and performance, in order to create the best possible outcome for projects to meet customer expectations.
“We are very excited to be a part of a discussion on an industry-wide, nation-wide program that will formally recognize the tradecraft of glaziers,” says Darand Davies, president of Dallas Glass. “Our reputation…is based on quality and skill and raising the bar of certification for our glaziers is key.”
