Czech Republic costume jewellery producer Zeleznobrodske sklo (ZBS) has announced an increase in year 2000 sales of 28% compared to the previous year. Full-year sales totalled Kc 533 million. According to ZBS chief executive Jaroslav Silhan, the substantial increase was due to growing interest in costume jewellery. As regards the future of the company, the Czech Republic“s National Property Fund plans to transfer its 89.36% share in ZBS to Bijou Terra by the end of March. The cabinet decided to sell the stake to Bijou Terra on 27 November 2000, as Bijou Terra had beaten Diamond Agency and Liberecky investicni fond in a tender. While the company offered only the second highest price of Kc 280 million, the Finance Minister said it had submitted the best business plan. Bijou Terra is owned by glass and costume jewellery producers Preciosa, Ornela and Bizuterie Ceska mincovna.
