German window and door maker Weru AG cuts staff numbers by 152 to 1,137 in the first half of 2003, it was reported on 4 September 2003. The cuts came under Weru“s restructuring programme whose aim is the improvement of the company“s financial performance. The company sold its wood products business in the first half of 2003 and raised turnover to EUR 63 million (USD 69.04 million). No comparative figures were available. Weru is looking to make a profit for the full 2003 and to increase its turnover for the period, compared to a EUR 139.3 million (USD 152.67 million) turnover in 2002. Weru products are sold through a 1,040 member authorised dealer network in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. Company factories are located in Rudersberg, Heilsbronn, southern Germany, Sopron, Hungary, and Warsaw, Poland.
