Thanks to its export strategy, Vietnam Glass and Ceramics Corporation (Viglacera) is on its way to double its earnings in 2003. The corporation said its focus on exporting key products and intensified overseas trade promotion will bring it nearly USD 10 million this year, double the earnings for 2002. Viglacera is a major player in the Vietnamese market but has only started to focus on exports. Head of the corporation“s marketing department, Nguyen The Vinh, said he expects a rise in earnings to USD 14 million in 2004 and approximately USD 18 million in 2005. According to Vinh, the key export products are ceramics, granite, bathroom wares, Cotto brick, tiles, construction glass and mirrors. The corporation and its affiliates have actively taken part in major international exhibitions and fairs in Japan, South Korea, China, Russia, Germany, Spain, the US, Laos and Iraq over the past year. Vinh said Viglacera products were recently honored with an International Construction Award and International European Award for Quality from Spanish publisher Editorial Office, and an International Star Award for Quality from Business Initiative Directions in France. To boost promotion, Viglacera and its subsidiaries have also launched websites, improved their marketing and increased online advertisement. Vinh said the corporation has spent heavily to register its trademarks and labels in many countries and territories. Most subsidiaries have also applied international quality management systems, required for selling products in many markets.
