Verallia Italia partners with Campari on development of Aperol bottle

Verallia, the European leader and the world’s third-largest manufacturer of glass packaging for beverages and food products, has collaborated with Campari Group on the development of Aperol’s new bottle. The design and creative direction were led by Campari Group in partnership with Design Bridge and Partners, whilst Verallia contributed to the engineering and industrial scale-up of the project.

Launched in 2024, the collaboration saw Verallia Italia involved from the earliest stages of development, supporting the industrialisation of the creative concept and translating it into a technically coherent glass solution.

The result is a bottle that preserves the brand’s defining characteristics, enhancing both its recognisability and functionality whilst honouring its heritage and premium market positioning.

The new design, developed by Campari Group, features more contemporary lines and a balanced silhouette, with an undulated glass neck conceived to accentuate the reflections of Aperol’s unmistakable orange. The more defined and harmonious proportions strengthen the bottle’s presence both at the bar and on shelf.

In this context, Verallia focused on the engineering of the bottle’s geometry to ensure aesthetic consistency and manufacturability at industrial scale, maintaining the highest quality standards throughout the supply chain.

The collaboration forms part of the continuing evolution of an iconic product within the Italian aperitivo category, bringing together visual identity, container quality and production requirements and delivering a solution that unites industrial precision with the enduring qualities of glass.

The project also incorporated eco-design principles through a structural light-weighting process. All principal formats have been optimised in terms of weight, yielding a positive impact on raw material efficiency without any compromise to quality or performance standards.

Verallia highlights this collaboration as a compelling example of shared innovation. “Our work with Campari Group to support the industrial development of the new Aperol bottle is a project that brings visual identity and production requirements into meaningful dialogue,” said the Verallia Italia team. “The outcome demonstrates how glass can enhance the value of a historic brand, combining container quality, industrial performance and efficiency.”

The project reaffirms the role of glass as a material of excellence for premium beverage packaging, and underscores the importance of supply chain collaboration in developing sophisticated industrial solutions, where brand identity and manufacturing expertise find their natural point of balance.
