Verallia, the world’s third largest producer of glass packaging for food and beverages, is changing its governance.

Following the General Meeting of Shareholders held on May 11, 2022, Michel Giannuzzi, Chairman and CEO of the group for the past five years, will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and will entrust the general management to Patrice Lucas. He joins the Board of Directors as a Director. His mission will be to continue the deployment of the group’s strategic plan and to accelerate its sustainability projects.

This change should enable Verallia to continue its profitable growth while developing its CSR ambitions. Among the major challenges of this roadmap is the deployment of the group’s purpose, which aims to make glass the most sustainable packaging material in the world.

Michel Giannuzzi said, “These years as Chairman and CEO have been exciting and intense. The strong profitable growth was recognized by Verallia’s IPO on the Euronext Paris market in 2019. Verallia now has an inspiring purpose, experienced teams and is very well positioned to continue its strategy of profitable growth, while accelerating its investments in sustainable development. I am delighted to begin a new chapter in the history of our Group, together with Patrice Lucas.”

Patrice Lucas, the Group’s new CEO, said, “I would like to thank the shareholders and the Board of Directors for the confidence they have placed in me by appointing me Chief Executive Officer of Verallia, one of the world leaders in its industry. I am convinced that the Group, composed of engaged teams, serving operational, financial and environmental performance, has all the assets to pursue the strategy initiated by Michel Giannuzzi and to continue this strong momentum that has been welcomed by all stakeholders.”

Patrice Lucas, 55, has spent more than 30 years of his working life in the automotive sector. A graduate of the Compiègne University of Technology (UTC) and ENSAM Paris, he began his career in 1991 at Valeo where he worked for 15 years in various positions in France and abroad. He joined PSA Peugeot Citroën in 2006 as Senior Vice President in charge of Interior Engineering, and then became head of the Group’s Commercial Vehicle programs in 2010. In 2014, he became Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee in charge of Planning, Programs and Strategy at PSA before taking over the management of the Latin America region in 2018. In 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chief Engineering Officer of the Stellantis group.
