Window and skylight manufacturer Velux Italia has recently launched an online ordering system, company CEO Massimo Buccilli said on 5 November 2003. The company, established in 1977, has invested EUR 1.3 million (USD 1.49 million) in an online ordering system. Velux Italia has some 2,000 distributors worldwide. Velux Italia“s turnover for the first eight months of 2003 rose by 13% if compared to the EUR 56.2 million (USD 64.5 million) turnover posted for full 2002. Turnover for 2002 rose 11% year-on-year. Velux Italia“s net profit for 2002 was EUR 1.38 million (USD 1.6 million). Velux Italia has increased the size of its workforce by 20 to 120 since the beginning of 2003. Velux Italia is part of Danish diversified holding company VKR, which registered a EUR 1.3 billion (USD 1.493 billion) turnover and a net profit of EUR 83 million (USD 95.3 million) for 2002. VKR employs some 9,000 people in 40 countries.
