Belgium“s Walloon regional government has announced in a statement that holding company Mosane SA, of Belgium is still in with a chance of purchasing Val St-Lambert, the publicly-owned Belgian decorative glassmaker, although Crystal Atlantis of Portugal is also in the running. Walloon president Robert Collignon indicated that Crystal Atlantis, with its international distribution network, was the frontrunner. However, he stated that there were questions about the de-localisation (of jobs) and the transfer of company know-how (outside Belgium). The Walloon government said it aimed to continue discussions with both bidders to get “improved offers” that would cut the cost to the region of cleaning up the company“s balance sheet. The government said it was open to receiving offers from other candidates.
