9 October 1997: Some of the top US glassmakers are facing lawsuits over alleged price-fixing activities. Major glass producers, including Guardian Industries and Ford Motor Co.“s glass division, were alleged to have joined forces to fix the prices of a wide range of glass products. Glass manufacturers deny any wrongdoing, pointing out that glass prices of 36 cents per square foot in 1995 were close to glass prices of 34 cents per square foot in 1986.
