The most recent Producer Price Index Report from the US Labor Department indicates that the prices of flat glass are continuing to rise.
According to the latest Producer Price Index Report from the US Labor Department, flat glass prices saw a slight increase of 0.6% in the period from February to March.
The index was listed at 116.8 for March, compared with 116.1 for February.
The price of construction materials also saw an increase, increasing 0.3% from February to March, according to the report. The index was listed at 221.9 for February and 223.0 for March.
The PPI is a family of indices that measure the average change over time in the prices received by domestic producers of goods and services, according to the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
“PPIs measure price change from the perspective of the seller,” writes BLS in its description of the PPI.
Meanwhile, the latest import report from the BLS showed no increases for import prices for glass and glassware from February to March, according to the March Import and Export Price Indexes. The export price increased 0.2% from February to March.
Glass and glassware includes float glass, safety glass, lab glass and a range of other glass products, according to information from the International Price Program office in Washington, D.C.
