Lysychask soda (Lysychansk, Luhansk region), the second largest soda producer in the Ukraine is to increase production volumes by 19% or UAH 13.336 million to UAH 83.4 million in 2003 compared with 2001, said Deputy director of the company Nina Parshikova. Parshikova said these volumes may be reached due to a 12% increase in soda ash production to 167,722 tons, and due to a 1.9-fold increase in baking soda output to 15,342 tons. In 2002, the company reported UAH 8.5 million in losses caused by the stoppages at the plant as well as higher gas and water prices.
