People across the UK are being reminded to take glass jars as well as bottles to recycling containers as part of a British Glass national campaign to increase recycling. The campaign aims to remind people to recycle empty glass jars of Christmas favourites such as mincemeat and cranberry sauce as well as everyday items such as mayonnaise and pickles, and not just bottles. TV star Fiona Phillips recently launched the campaign. She said: “Many people remember to recycle empty bottles at Christmas but forget about all the empty jars. The great thing about glass is that it can be used again and again, so don“t bin your glass, bank it at your local recycling centre or put it in your kerbside box.” GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips launched the British Glass Christmas 2003 recycling campaign with the aid of glass recycling mascot Jenny Jar.
