15 April 1999: According to a recent report, Tivox, Sweden“s leading flag and flagpole manufacturer, has sold its flag operations to a Finnish company, Flag Holding Oy. Flag Holding Oy is part of the TEN group of Finland. The TEN group“s subsidiaries include YPA Tuote Oy, the world“s second largest manufacturer of fibreglass flag poles, and Finn Marine Oy, which is one of the leading flag manufacturers of Europe. Tivox is the market leader in flags and flagpoles in Sweden, and the world“s largest manufacturer of fibreglass flagpoles, the report said. Tivox“s flag and flagpole divisions had turnover of around SKr 56.5 million in 1998, and recorded profits of around SKr 4 million. Tivox MD Brivio Thorner said that manufacture in Sweden would continue unchanged. He stressed that the Finnish buyer“s interest in the company stemmed from a desire to take advantage of Tivox“s strong position as an exporter and Swedish market-leader in its field.
