Tempco Glass expands services with new polishing equipment

Tempco Glass Fabrication has made important additions to its existing machine fleet, with two new glass edge polishing units. Tempco will now be able to offer high-quality edge polishing fabrication services for circle, curved or other non-straight edge glass shapes.

Tempco Glass Fabrication, based in Flushing, N.Y., has added two new glass edge polishing units, supplementing its existing edge polishing and mitring machine. The two new glass edge polishing units further expand the firm’s range of services, improve overall glass throughput cycle times, and increase total processing capacity.
One of the new machines is a vertical orientation automated edge polisher to accommodate larger glass pieces than the firm’s current unit can handle. The new polisher is installed and in daily operation. With both edge polishers functioning, the company’s capacity for this service is now effectively doubled.
Also adding to the Tempco equipment roster, is a new shaped glass edging machine, which is currently being installed. Capable of polishing and grinding, this equipment uses different grinding wheels to process flat, flat with arris, and miter edges. With this unit, Tempco will be able to offer high-quality edge polishing fabrication services for glass circle, curved or other non-straight edge shapes.
Since its start-up in January 2013, Tempco has put in service several millions of dollars’ worth of glass processing equipment. In addition to the array of glass edge polishing equipment, the company also operates a full convection glass tempering furnace, glass drilling unit, full CNC glass cutting table and a glass washing and drying system. The firm is scheduled to place in service an automated full-scale insulated glass fabrication system in early 2014.
