SVC conference focus on new technological developments and smart materials

The Society of Vacuum Coaters 48th Annual Technical Conference and Smart Materials Symposium will be held on 23 – 28 April 2005, at the Adam“s Mark Denver Hotel, Denver, Colorado. The focus of the conference is New Developments in Vacuum Coating Technologies and Smart Materials. SVC announces that the Plenary Address on Sunday 24 April 2005 on “RFID Technology, Promise, and Challenges“ will be presented by Salil Pradhan, HP Labs, Palo Alto, California. Zhenan Bao, Stanford University, California, will deliver the Keynote presentation on Monday, 25 April 2005 on Organic Materials and Processes for the Fabrication of Electronic Devices. New Education Program offerings feature courses on “Pulsed Plasma Processing”, “Plasma Web Treatment”, and “Practical Aspects of Permeation Measurement: From Polymer Films to Ultra-high Barriers.” A special event, “A Vacuum Wizard“s Guide to Understanding Vacuum and Vacuum Coating” will be held on Sunday afternoon. There is no charge to attend this event, but registration is required and space is limited so that registrants can see the demonstrations. The comprehensive program of 33 courses is described under the Education button on the SVC Web Site. The technical program features a Special Session on HIPIMS, a Joint Session on “Processes, Materials, and Systems for Flexible Electronics”, a Joint Session on “Plasma Processing of Webs”, the Heureka! Session for Post Deadline Recent Developments, and the Smart Materials Symposium, together with presentations in sessions on Optical Coating, Vacuum Web Coating, Tribological & Decorative Coating, Plasma Processing, Large Area Coating, and Emerging Technologies. An Innovator“s Showcase of vendor presentations on new products and services and the Exhibit featuring over 190 exhibits take place on 25 – 26 April 2005. Unique features of each SVC Conference include the “Meet the Experts” Corner in which small groups of conference attendees interact informally with experts on narrowly defined specific topics over a three-day period. In addition the Technology Forum Breakfast topics and the Donald M. Mattox Tutorial Program provide additional opportunities for high quality interactions.
