Union Cristalera Portaglas, S.L., a flat glass manufacturer and 100% subsidiary of La Veneciana, S.A., plans to invest EUR 18 million over the next few years in technical upgrades at its plants in Lal“n, A Coru-a and Vigo, as well as in the branches at Ourense and Santiago de Compostela (all in the Galicia region, northwest Spain). The company had sales of EUR 23.5 million in 2001, the last year for which data is available. The company was formed from the takeover of Union Cristalera, S.A. by Portaglas, S.L., both of which are controlled by La Veneciana, S.A. La Veneciana, S.A. a wholly-owned subsidiary of flat glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Cristaleria, S.A., itself has complete ownership of La Veneciana Balear, S.A., La Veneciana Betica, S.A., La Veneciana Canarias, S.A., La Veneciana Norte, S.A., Cristalera Industrial, S.A., La Veneciana Levante, S.A. and Vidrios de Seguridad Laminados, S.A. (vislam), all glass processors/manufacturers. The group has 21 double glazing lines, four tempering furnace, a laminated glass furnace, and four screen printing lines.
