A visit to joint venture partner Lianyungang Soda Plant in China left a good impression on bosses from Belgium“s Solvay Group. Solvay, the world“s largest soda ash producer, signed the JV agreement with the Chinese firm in April 2004. Following the visit, the Executive Director of Solvay Group Executive Committee was reportedly hopeful that the joint venture cooperation between the two sides could be accelerated. During the 2-day inspection, the Solvay team visited facilities including the heavy soda workshop, residue discharge yard, special rail line and employees living quarters. They also saw nearby port facilities, railways and major raw salt production bases.
