Turkish soda ash and chromium chemicals producer Soda Sanayii has allocated TRL 90 million (USD 57.8 million/EUR 48.2 million) for a pay rise resulting from the collective labour agreement signed on 21 May 2004. The agreement, covering the period 2004 to 2005, was signed by the company and the Petrol-Is trade union on behalf of 575 employees. The raise is valid for the first six months of the agreement. Following that, pay will go up by 6% in the second six-month period and will be pegged to inflation in the second year of the agreement. Social security payments will be increased by 18%. Petrol-Is was preparing to start industrial action on 21 May 2004 over the lack of a collective labour agreement.
