Şişecam sponsors São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026

Şişecam contributed as a sponsor to the São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026, organised by CeRTEV, from April 27 to May 1 in São Paulo and São Carlos, Brazil, one of the most respected academic events in the field.

Held for the fourth time this year, the program brought together a wide range of participants, including international graduate students, academics, researchers and industry professionals, becoming an important meeting point for the glass science community.

The program featured advanced technical content covering the structure of glasses and glass-ceramics, as well as dynamic processes such as diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, liquid–liquid phase separation and crystallisation. Theoretical and practical sessions on optical, electrical, mechanical and biochemical properties provided participants with an interdisciplinary perspective. Scientific and technological developments in advanced glass fibres and high-performance glass systems were also presented during the event.

Şişecam played an active role in the event not only as a sponsor but also through its strong technical expertise and R&D capabilities. Representing Şişecam, Dr Gülin Demirok, Glass Fibre Product Development Specialist and Project Manager of the “Efficiency Management Program,” delivered a presentation highlighting the Company’s innovative transformation journey—from its long-standing experience in the production and application of standard E-glass fibre to cutting-edge technologies including high-modulus (HM), ultra-high-modulus (UHM) and S-glass fibre.

The presentation focused on experimental glass fibre compositions and process approaches developed to achieve high mechanical performance, enhanced specific strength, and advanced engineering applications.

Guided by its vision of “meeting the advanced material needs of the future, today,” Şişecam aims to develop high-value-added materials for strategic sectors such as defence, energy, aerospace and advanced composite applications through its research in glass fibre technologies. In particular, the Company’s work on HM and S-glass fibre underscores its global competitive strength in advanced glass and fibre technologies.
