5 November 1998: Turkey“s Sisecam reported its unaudited results for January-September 1998. For the first nine months of 1998, Sisecam had net profits of TL 3,229.95 trillion compared with TL 2,890.45 trillion in the same period of a year earlier. Net sales increased to TL 3,210.99 trillion from TL 1,387.19 trillion of the same period in 1997. Operating profit was at TL 138.86 trillion compared with a TL 135.17 loss reported in the same period of 1997. T.Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari A.S. is the parent company of Turkey“s giant glass and glassware group, which comprises more than 20 production, marketing, packaging, trade firms and a brokerage house. Sisecam“s 74.91% stake is owned by T.Is Bankasi, one of Turkey“s leading commercial banks.
