The Italian producer of glass bricks and insulators Seves, which recently changed its name from Vetroarredo Sediver, has invested EUR 23 million (USD 28.3 million) in a new plant in Shanghai, eastern China, company president Luciano Zottola and CEO Enrico Basso said on 21 September 2004. The new plant, to be opened on 28 October 2004, was built in a joint venture with Chinese glass products manufacturer Shanghai Glass Co Ltd. A workforce some 200 strong will run the three production lines of the Shanghai plant, which will have a total annual capacity of 25,000 tonnes of glass. Vetroarredo Sediver has ten plants, three of which are in Italy, one in the Czech Republic, one in France, one in Brazil and four in China. The company employs 2,000 and has a 27% share of the world market for glass bricks.
