Schott Desag AG, a member of the German glass producer Schott Glas group, and controlled by Germany“s Carl Zeiss Foundation, is likely to build a new factory in Mateszalka (eastern Hungary), according to a recent report. The investment depends on whether the company receives required central and local government support. Investment costs are estimated to be Ft 0.5 billion (US$ 1.8 million), without the costs of equipment to be delivered by the parent company. The factory will produce rear-view mirrors, and will employ 150 workers. Schott Desag will set up a Hungarian subsidiary, Schott Desag Hungaria Kft. The company will build a 3000 square meter plant and will apply for government support.
