6 May 1999: Vegla Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbH (Aachen) of Germany, part of France“s Saint-Gobain, is to be renamed Saint-Gobain Glass Deutschland GmbH within the next two years. Vegla increased turnover by 10.3% to DM 465 million (DM 421 million) last year. Domestic sales accounted for DM 282 million (DM 264 million), foreign sales for DM 183 million (DM 156 million). Consolidated group turnover saw slight growth to DM 1.08 billion (DM 1.04 billion). Ordinary operating profits reached DM 36 million (DM 29 million). Net profits of DM 26 million (DM 25 million) were posted. Some DM 23 million (DM 21 million) was transferred to the parent company. Cash flow came to DM 53 million (DM 47 million), more than sufficient to finance investment totalling DM 20 million (DM 18 million).
