The Royal Brierley Crystal works at Dudley in England“s West Midlands will close in July 2007 after 231 years. The blame for the closure of the Tipton Road factory is put on the rise in popularity of cheap foreign imports. The firm used to employ more than 700 people and moved to Dudley from Brierley Hill in 2002. Production will reportedly move to the factory in north Devon, although the retail shop will stay open at the Tipton Road site. Six jobs will be lost.
