The European Investment Bank (EIB) recently announced that it will loan US$ 14.9 million to the Argentine container glass firm Rayen Cura SA, in which France“s Saint-Gobain has a 60% stake, to finance major expansion at its plant in Mendoza province. Saint-Gobain has guaranteed the six-year loan through its European holding company. The new facilities at the company“s Guayllemen plant will help meet demand which is running at around double the plant“s current output. The remainder of Rayen Cura shares are held by Chilean glassmaker Cristalerias de Chile.
