PPG Industries announced on 22 October 2009 that Patrick J. Kenny had been appointed vice president, corporate marketing, with effect as of 1 November 2009. Kenny will continue to be based at the company“s global headquarters, and will report directly to J. Rich Alexander, PPG senior vice president, performance coatings. In his new role, Kenny, who is currently PPG general manager, corporate marketing and construction markets, will be in charge of corporate marketing and growth initiatives, government selling programmes, market-facing growth initiatives, and marketing/sales competency development. After joining PPG in 1980, Kenny held various positions in project management, sales management and marketing in the flat glass, commercial products and construction contracting businesses. In 1989, he moved to Hong Kong as managing director for a PPG glass joint venture, and became global marketing manager, flat glass, in 1993. In 1999, Kenny became global director of marketing, flat glass, and was appointed business director of the newly-created, cross-business construction market team in 2003. He assumed the leadership of PPG“s corporate marketing and growth initiatives in November 2006. Kenny got his bachelor“s degree in marketing from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and an executive master of business administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
