12 November 1998: PPG Industries has developed Hybon RCY, a new fibreglass yarn specifically for use in printed circuit boards, said a recent press report. Strength, stability and electrical properties are imparted to laminates using the fibreglass yarn. Before use in printed circuit boards, both sides of the laminate are covered with copper foil. By early 1999, the company is due to complete full production testing which is designed to confirm the properties identified in laboratory tests, the report said.
