Pilkington announced today in London the construction of a float line of 180,000 tons of glass per year for the Ghazvin Glass Company, the biggest glass producer in Iran. The 60 million Euro investment for the supply of technology and plant will be carried out and financed by the group“s Italian affiliate. In fact, the Pilkington project is part of a finance deal proposed by Italian Mediobanca with the credit line dedicated to Iran, and signed in September, 1999. Pilkington Group“s CEO, Paolo Scaroni, commented “This new float project represents an important opportunity for growth in a country with a rapidly developing economy and further demonstration of Pilkington“s experience in capitalizing on its own technological leadership in order to enter new markets.
