The NSG Group has unveiled its first Glass in Architecture booklet, inspired by some of the most creative uses of glass in buildings today. The publication showcases a series of projects from around the world, including offices, public buildings and private homes, where architects have combined functionality with interesting design using modern glass solutions.
Projects featured in Glass in Architecture include the Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences in Finland, which harmonizes modernity with historical heritage, the urban infrastructure of the Presbyterian Hospital in the centre of New York, and the Hotel Spa Dr Irena Eris in Krynica Górska in Poland, which opens out onto stunning natural scenery. In each case, the glass solutions applied serve many different functions that enhance the aesthetical value and overall sustainable performance of the buildings featured.
“Glass is one of the most commonly used building materials in modern architecture,” says Jon Phillips, marketing director, NSG Group Building Products. “This is because modern glass provides a broad array of functionalities in addition to letting the light in. These include excellent thermal insulation, protection against the sun, noise and attack, and even self-cleaning properties. Architects and designers appreciate the unlimited opportunities glass gives them to realize their artistic visions, evidence of which is contained in Glass in Architecture. We hope that the album will inspire architects and designers and will lead to a better understanding of glass – one of the most fascinating materials used in architecture”.
