NSG Group: SmartWindows

SmartWindow – a cutting edge glazing technology that will revolutionise the way the future combines sustainability, ergonomics and workplace productivity

An office that comes complete with windows that improve your health and keep you comfortable, while at the same time saving up to 30 per cent on your energy bills. This is not science fiction, but reality.

Thanks to an innovative collaboration between NSG Group and technology experts, PHYSEE, architectural glass has never been “smarter” or more ergonomic – crucial elements when combining sustainability with boosting productivity in the workplace.

The broad technical knowledge and testing capabilities of NSG Group, and ground-breaking sensor technology provided by PHYSEE, has resulted in windows that generate energy and provide data. This technology optimises daylight and contributes to making buildings energy neutral, providing perfect indoor climates and ambience.

Developed by PHYSEE, the “SmartWindow” contains sensors that measure data, such as light, air quality and temperature – information that is used to optimally cool, heat and/or illuminate buildings. When integrated into NSG Group’s IGUs the possibilities with regard to comfort, noise control, safety and security, are virtually endless.

“Dedicated NSG Group processing sites will integrate the PHYSEE sensors into standard double or triple IGUs made by us for SmartWindows. This will provide the flexibility to use all kind of glass combinations – our low emissivity glass for improved thermal insulation, our solar control and noise control glass, safety and/or security glass and other functional glazing products,” explained Alderlan Vitalino, Value Added Director Architectural Glass Europe NSG Group.

“The result is a reduction in energy costs by up to 30 percent and increased levels of comfort in the building – all of which contributes to the happiness, health and an 18 percent productivity increase in working environments.”

The collaboration aims to equip multiple office blocks across Europe with a total of 15,000 SmartWindows.
