NSG Group announced that Pilkington Italia, part of the Group, has been honoured with one of the five Special Ecopack Awards 2025 by CONAI, the National Packaging Consortium in Italy. These prestigious awards recognise outstanding initiatives selected from 217 submitted projects and celebrate the most innovative solutions in the field of the circular economy.
The award-winning project transforms automotive glass logistics, delivering significant environmental benefits across the supply chain through:
- Reuse of polyethylene separators: transitioning from single-use to over 20 cycles, enabled by a low water consumption recovery and ultrasonic washing process.
- 28.5 percent reduction in annual purchases of packaging items.
- Optimisation of steel pallets, allowing 33 percent more glass per trailer, reducing transportation frequency and cutting CO2 emissions.
This initiative embodies the “use, return, repeat” philosophy, demonstrating how innovation and collaboration can create both environmental and economic value. The success reflects strong teamwork at the San Salvo plant in Italy, and close cooperation with customers.
The award was presented in Milan during the “Economy of the Future” event, marking another important milestone in NSG Group’s commitment to sustainability.
