Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. has acquired a worldwide non-exclusive license from Research Frontiers Incorporated to manufacture and sell SPD-Smart(TM) light-control film, which has wide applicability in a variety of SPD-Smart products including architectural, automotive, aircraft and marine windows, as well as in instantly adjustable variable tint eyewear such as sunglasses or ski goggles. According to Research Frontiers, Nippon Sheet Glass has already begun working with, and will be buying SPD emulsion from, other Research Frontiers“ licensees, coating the emulsion into an SPD light-control film, and selling the film to companies licensed by Research Frontiers to make SPD-Smart end-products. In a window, sunroof, or other product using VaryFast(TM) SPD-Smart(TM) technology, the user can manually or automatically control the amount of light, glare and heat coming into a home, office, aircraft, train or other vehicle.
