1 October 1998: With an investment of 2-3 billion yen (US$15.7-23.6 million), Nippon Sheet Glass said it will expand its Philippine glass substrate production plant. The material is used in hard disks, the report said, and the firm hopes the investment will increase the plant“s monthly capacity to 2 million sheets by 1999. The move is part of the company“s plans to diversify into the information products market, which is growing rapidly.
