Nikon Corp. has announced that it will increase production of glass disk boards used for hard disks (HD). By the middle of 1996, at a cost of between JPY 500 and 600 million, the Japanese corporation aims to have increased monthly production 100% to 1 million units. HD glass board production is limited to only a few companies such as Hoya Corp., Nippon Sheet Glass Co. Ltd. and Nikon. Hoya is also planning to increase production by expanding its factory in the US, and Nikon“s plans are a result of this action.
