The acquisition of Anchor Glass, Mirro Cookware and Burnes Picture Frame by Global Home Products, LLC from Newell Rubbermaid Inc. was completed on 14 April 2004. The announcement was made by George Hamilton, CEO of Global Home Products, who said “Anchor, Mirro and Burnes collectively have several very important brands in the consumer marketplace. Going forward, we are planning to invest significantly in the brands to create some real excitement and expand their presence.” Mr. Hamilton had previously worked with Newell Rubbermaid for 17 years in a variety of posts, including President of Rubbermaid Europe and President of Anchor Hocking Specialty Glass from 1996 through 2001. Most recently, he headed an independent consulting practice focused on serving the consumer goods industry. Mr. Hamilton went on to say, “Historically these brands have been leaders in their field and we are committed to making them leaders once again. There is an old saying that you “can“t go home,“ but with my previous relationships within these companies and in their communities, it sure does feel like home to me. We have a core group of quality employees that I know will join together to make us the company we want to be.” Global Home Products will be headquartered in Westerville, Ohio.
