Atechnical seminar held in August 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey and organised by Tamglass Engineering Oy, together with its Turkish agent, Makro Ltd. Sti., brought 32 specialists from 16 leading companies of Turkish architectural glass processing industries. Main topics of the seminar were basic theory of glass tempering, operating principals of tempering furnaces, heating and movement control, how to temper good quality glass, low-E glass and forced convection heating methods. The seminar and lunch was held at Ciragan Palace, a renovated Ottoman Palace which nowadays serves as a convention centre. In the afternoon, participants were directed to a glass processing factory for flat glass tempering demonstrations. This was the first seminar ever in Turkey on the subject of flat glass tempering. Both the organisers and participants are reported to have expressed interest in other such events in the future.
