Lynch Corporation has announced a USD 5.2 million contract for three large presses used to form the glass back ends, or cones, of television sets, computer monitors, and other CRTs. Lynch Corporation president John C. Ferrara said the contract has been awarded to its subsidiary, Lynch Systems of Bainbridge, Georgia, by one of the world“s largest manufacturers of glass for CRTs. The customer is headquartered in South Korea, and will accept shipment at one of its plants in China. Two of the presses will be able to produce TV glass funnels up to 29 inches measured diagonally. The third and largest machine will produce TV glass funnels up to 36 inches. The machines will form glass for both TV displays and computer monitors. “We are enthusiastic about concluding negotiations for this most important project,” said Arnold Bowling, president, Lynch Systems. “With this order, we will have supplied 17 CRT presses to this customer over the last 15 years, with an additional eight retrofitted machines.” Lynch Systems plans to ship the machines in 2005. Lynch Systems designs and makes a broad range of capital equipment for the electronic display and consumer glass industries. The company serves two markets: manufacturers of CRTs for computer monitors, televisions, and other electronic displays, and manufacturers of consumer glass products, such as tableware and ovenware.
