The new glass processing factory of Azizia Glass Manufacturing Company (AGMC) was opened on 20 May 2009. The company has spent over LYD 12 million setting up and regenerating the dedicated glass factory in Al Azizia, which will use the latest state-of-the-art computerized glass processing technology to meet the large demand for specialized processed manufactured glass in Libya. Steve Laughton, general manger at AGMC Glass stated that “its an exciting time for the company as we have invested in the latest glass technology to help Libya with its new building and development programme.” Some of the world“s most experienced glass management and consultants were involved in the design and construction of the new factory. Further plans from the company include a training centre to teach computer technology, English and glass manufacturing processes. Alexandsar Vasiljevic a director of the company, said, “The factory will be able to produce a wide range of specialized glass products such AGMC Energy save double glaze windows, faade glass for multi-storey buildings, glass partitioning and doors.” Vasiljevic continued saying, “I would like to thank our 40% shareholder Libyan partners the Libyan Socialist Economic Fund for its valuable help in assisting with the government administrative matters. Without their help we would be struggling to complete our tasks.” Laughton said that he is now looking forward to AGMC second phase of its “Development in Libya“ programme starting with the construction of a multi million glass float plant capable of producing 700 tons of glass a day.
