Kyocera, a pioneer Japanese technology corporation in the field of fine ceramic products and a manufacturer of industrial liquid crystal displays (LCDs), has expanded its touch panel line, which are now available in sizes of up to 19 inches. According to the company, the new glass on glass technology achieves higher reliability and enhanced image quality compared with film on glass systems. Thanks to its special construction, the touch-sensitive glass/glass touch panel LCD series from Kyocera, available immediately, offers improved readability and greater reliability than the foil/glass structure of conventional LCD touch panel combinations. In this series, both the main body side and the operating side are made of glass. Use of the highly transparent glass substrate reduces the scattering of incident light rays, thus guaranteeing a clear view of the display without any distortion. The LCD polarization filter can also be attached to the touch panel for certain LCD sizes and outdoor applications, and reduces internal reflection between substrate and LCD, facilitating readability in direct sunlight. Moreover, the use of glass on both sides guarantees enhanced durability while hermetically sealing the touch panel, which is therefore ideally protected against condensation – even in areas subject to high humidity. Kyocera“s glass/glass LCD series are not affected by extreme temperatures and can therefore be stored at temperatures ranging from -40C to +95C and used in operating temperatures from -30C to +85C. Users can choose main body side thicknesses of 0.7mm, 1.1mm and 1.8mm, and diagonals of 3.5-19 inches, while the glass plate on the operating side is always 0.2mm thick.
