In a filing to the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Ishizuka Glass Co Ltd reported that net profit rose 229.1% to JPY 230 million in the 1Q to 20 June 2005 on sales up 5.4% to JPY 15.247 billion. Operating profit was up 70.5% to JPY 559 million and ordinary profit rose 199.2% to JPY 485 million. The substantial increases in profits came in spite of higher raw material and fuel costs. The firm said it had carried out thorough cost reduction measures across the group.
